I love open source software because there are no rules telling Developers what they can and cannot do. While most of the apps found in official app stores like the Google Play Store, iOS App Store and Amazon Appstore are amazing, they don’t allow for experimentation with apps. There is nobody there to tell an open source developer not to develop an app because it goes against certain beliefs, the Developer is free to do whatever they want to do.
I like open source software because there won’t be a proprietor suddenly changing the API. It has happened recently that, with little notice, particular entities have made significant changes to their APIs, thereby leaving the developer in a quandary as to whether to update or drop their apps. Perhaps these entities do so in order to take over the market share that the open source developers helped to attract. Yay to the open source movement!!
