Official Rules

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

Participation constitutes entrant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules. The Domain.com Decoder Contest (the "Contest") is sponsored by Dotster, Inc.,and its affiliate, Domain.com, LLC (8100 NE Parkway Drive, Suite 300, Vancouver, WA 98662) ("Dotster," "Domain.com," or "Domaindotcom"), who is solely responsible for all aspects of this Contest. Dotster's computer shall be deemed the official time keeping device for the Contest.

  1. HOW TO ENTER
    1. The Contest will be held on weekdays (excluding legal holidays) beginning Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at 12:00 a.m. Pacific and ending Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific (the "Contest Period").
    2. To participate in the Contest, you must enter via the following method:
      1. Visit Twitter.com during the Contest Period. If you are not already a member of Twitter.com, you must become a member (membership is free). To become a member, enter the required information on the registration page at www.twitter.com.
      2. Become a Follower of the official Domain.com Twitter feed (http://www.twitter.com/Domaindotcom).
      3. Watch for Domain.com's tweet posting the message to be decoded ("Message"). The first one hour a Message is posted will constitute a "Game". There may be more than one Game per day.
      4. When you have decoded the Message, send replyto @Domaindotcom with the correct decoded message and include the hashtag #D3cod3rin yourresponse. For an explanation of hashtags, visit http://twitter.pbwiki.com/Hashtags.
      5. The first thirty (30) Followers who submit the correct answer to the Message during a Game ("Game Entries") will be entered into a drawing for a FREE domain. Entries received after the conclusion of the Game, will not be eligible for entry.
      6. The first Follower who submits the correct answer to the Message during each Game will automatically receive two (2) entries into the Grand Prize drawing, and the nexttwenty-nine (29) Followers who submit the correct answer to the Message during each Game (collectively, "Grand Prize Entries") will receive one (1) entry for the Grand Prize drawing.
    3. Dotster is not responsible for updates, tweets, or direct messages made to the official Domain.com Twitter feed that are not registered or received due to difficulty accessing the Internet, service outages or delays, computer difficulties, or other technological glitches.
    4. Updates from Domaindotcom Twitter Followers will be deemed made by the authorized account holder of the email address associated with a Twitter.com account at the time of entry. The authorized account holder is the natural person who is assigned to the email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization that is responsible for assigning the email address or the domain associated with the submitted email address. Multiple participants are not permitted to share the same email address.
  2. ELIGIBILITY
    1. The Contest is open to all Twitter members who are legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia and 18 years of age or older (19 years or older in Alabama and Nebraska) at the time of entry. Employees of Dotster, Twitter.com, their corporate parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, agents, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, sales representatives, as well as Dotster's or Twitter.com's advertising and public relations agencies, participating sponsors/promotional partners, other domain registrars, and the members of the immediate families and/or households of each are ineligible to participate or win. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and is void in Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, U.S. Military installations in foreign countries, and otherwise where prohibited, taxed or restricted by law.
    2. Only one (1) entry is permitted per Game.
    3. Entrants are required to provide truthful information. Dotster will reject and delete any entry that it discovers to be false or fraudulent. Dotster will disqualify any entry from individuals who do not meet the eligibility requirements. Dotster will delete any entry received from persons under the age of 13 in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.
  3. PRIZES
    1. From each Game, five(5) winners will be randomly selected from the Game Entries to each receive one (1) free domainname (limited to .com, .net, .org, .biz, or .us) (retail value of US$9.95). Each awarded domain may be registered for a period of one (1) year at no cost to the winner. A coupon code will be provided for prize redemption. Prizes can only be redeemed at http://www.domain.com. No more than forty-five (45) free domain prizes will be awarded.
    2. One (1) winner will be randomly selected from the Grand Prize Entries to receivethe Grand Prize of an Apple® gift card in the amount of$500(US) (retail value of US$500). Use of such gift card is subject to any and all terms and conditions applied by Apple® to its gift cards.No more than one (1) Grand Prize will be awarded.
    3. All expenses and costs not expressly listed in the prize description are solely the winner's responsibility.
    4. The winner will forfeit any prize or prize certificate not claimed on or before December 9, 2011. In the event that a prize or prize certificate is mailed to the winner, it will be with the prior written consent of the winner and therefore, winner assumes the risk of its loss. Dotster is not responsible for the safe arrival of a prize or prize certificate. If any prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, the prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner.
    5. There is no substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent for prizes, except that Dotster may, at its sole discretion, substitute prizes of comparable value or cash. The prizes are expressly limited to the item(s) listed above and do not include taxes, gratuities, or other expenses. The winner will be subject to the terms and conditions set forth by the provider of certificate selected by the winner. Other restrictions may apply.
  4. WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION
    1. Decisions of Dotster with respect to the Contest are final.
    2. Each day of the Contest, five(5)Domaindotcom Followers will be randomly selected to each receive one free domain, as listed in Section 3(a). Winners will be notified on or before November 11, 2011.Winners of the domain prize who meet all of the eligibility requirements and have fully complied with the Official Rules will receive their prize within approximately one (1) week after the conclusion of the Contest Period.
    3. One (1) winner will be selected from the Grand Prize Entries to receive the Grand Prize as listed in Section 3(b). The winner will be notified on or before November 11, 2011. The winner of the Grand Prize who meets all of the eligibility requirements and has fully complied with the Official Rules will receive the prize within approximately four (4) weeks after the conclusion of the Contest Period.
    4. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
    5. Dotster will notify the winner that s/he has won. Winner must execute and return any required Affidavit of Eligibility/Release of Liability Prize Acceptance Form (where permitted) within ten (10) days of notification attempt or prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner may be chosen randomly from among all remaining eligible Contest entries. If a potential winner cannot be contacted, fails to sign and return the required affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release within the required time period, or if a prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, the potential winner forfeits the prize and the prize may be awarded to an alternate winner.
  5. CONDITIONS
    1. Your participation in the Contest constitutes your full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules and the decisions of Dotster, which are final and binding. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.
    2. Payment of all federal, state and local taxes is solely the responsibility of the winners. Winners may be required to complete and submit an IRS Form W-9 with the winner's full Social Security Number or the equivalent for receipt of any prize. Failure to submit a complete W-9 or equivalent will result in forfeiture of the prize.
    3. Except where prohibited, participation in the Contest constitutes winner's consent to Dotster's use of winner's name, likeness, voice, opinions, biographical information, and state of residence for promotional purposes in any media worldwide without further payment or consideration.
    4. Prior to awarding any prize or prize certificate, Dotster in its sole discretion may require Contest winners (and their travel companions, if any) to sign a liability release, agreeing to hold Dotster, its corporate licensee, its parent, subsidiary and affiliated corporations, and the officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents and representatives of each of them harmless against any and all claims or liability arising directly or indirectly from the prize or participation in the Contest.
    5. Dotster, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process, the operation of Dotster's or Twitter.com's websites, or who is otherwise in violation of the rules. It further reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify the Contest if it is not capable of completion as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, or technical failures of any sort.
    6. Dotster reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the Contest, including the substitution of a prize or equivalent value, which will become effective upon announcement. If due to circumstances beyond the control of Dotster, any competition or prize-related event is delayed, rescheduled, postponed or cancelled, Dotster reserves the right, but not the obligation, to cancel or modify the sweepstakes and shall not be required to award a substitute prize.
    7. Failure to comply with the Official Rules may result in an entrant's disqualification solely at the discretion of Dotster.
    8. Dotster is not responsible for typographical or other errors in the printing, offering, administration of the Contest, or in the announcement of a prize.
    9. Dotster reserves the right to cancel, suspend, and/or modify the Contest if any fraud, virus or other technical problem corrupts the administration, security, or proper play of the Contest, as determined by Dotster in its sole discretion. In such event, Dotster reserves the right to award the prizes at random from among the eligible entries received up to the time of the impairment.
    10. Dotster reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Dotster reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law.
    11. Dotster assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. Dotster also is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or telephone lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure or delay of any email or entry to be received by Dotster on account of technical problems, human error or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof.
    12. Dotster's failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. In the event of a dispute as to any online entry, the authorized account holder of the email address used to enter will be deemed to be the entrant.
  6. DISPUTES

    Except where prohibited, you agree that: (a) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in the State of Washington; (b) any and all claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering the Contest, but in no event attorneys' fees; and (c) you waive the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, your rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of Dotster in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of State of Washington, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the State of Washington or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than State of Washington.

  7. RELEASE

    By receipt of a prize, winner agrees to release and hold harmless Dotster and its officers, directors, shareholders, employees, and agents (the "Released Parties") from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Contest or receipt or use of any prize.

  8. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY

    The Released Parties are not responsible for: (a) any inaccurate information, whether caused by entrants or printing errors; (b) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the Contest; (c) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to electronic malfunctioning of any network, hardware or software; (d) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries; (e) lost, delayed, misdirected, or undeliverable mail; or (f) any injury or damage to persons or property including, but not limited to, death, which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from your participation in the Contest or receipt of any prize.

  9. INTERNET SWEEPSTAKES PRIVACY POLICY

    By entering this Contest, you agree to the use of your personal information as described in the Official Rules and in the Domain.com Privacy Statement located at www.domain.com. Twitter.com and Apple, Inc., are not affiliated with Dotster or the Contest.

  10. OFFICIAL RULES AND WINNERS LIST

    To request a list of winners and/or a copy of these Official Rules, please send a self-addressed, stamped envelope by November 11, 2011, to Dotster, Inc., Attn: Domain.com Decoder Contest, 8100 NE Parkway Drive, Suite 300, Vancouver, WA 98662. Vermont residents may omit return postage for Official Rules requests.
