Domain Security: How To Enable Domain Privacy

Domain Privacy and Protection services are essential to safeguard the personal details of domain registrants. Typically, upon registering a domain, your contact information is listed in the public WHOIS database by default, exposing you to potential spam, scams, and identity theft risks. Services designed to mitigate these risks counteract by providing an additional layer of privacy and security.

How to purchase and enable Domain Privacy

To enable Domain Privacy, purchase it first. Follow these steps to complete the process.

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. Click the Domains tab on the left-hand side.

  3. Navigate to the three-dot icon on the right side, then click Manage.

  4. Click the Turn on link under Domain + Protection in the Domain Overview.

    Alternatively, you can scroll down and expand the Domain Contacts section and then click the TURN ON button under Private Registration.

  5. Complete the purchase transaction. Now, you have successfully purchased and enabled the domain privacy.

How to disable Domain Privacy

Disabling Domain Privacy and Protection will make your contact details visible in the WHOIS directory, which is a public database.

  1. Login to your Account Manager.
  2. Click the Domain Name tab from the side navigation to the left.

  3. Click the desired domain name you wish to update.
  4. Scroll down and expand the Domain Contacts section, and then under Private Registration, you click the TURN OFF button.

  5. In the Turn OFF Private Registration pop-up, check the box beside "Yes, I'm sure I want to turn off Private Registration."

  6. Click the TURN OFF button to confirm the change.
  7. You have successfully disabled Privacy on this domain!
